There are patients in the Bethesda and Washington D.C areas who have tried out every single dermal filler and non-surgical wrinkle reducer out there, but still haven’t gotten satisfying results from them. Bothered by lax skin on their face and the wrinkles that crease it, these patients have been searching for a skin rejuvenating solution that gets to the root of their concern.
At Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery, we realize that a hands on approach is sometimes necessary to get things done. This is why we offer facelift treatments, which involve manually redistributing the skin to achieve a tauter and smoother look. When you get a facelift at our office, you will be under the care of Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter, a surgeon known for her abilities throughout the area. In the hands of Dr. Porter, you can receive a facelift that’ll set your visible age back by a decade, and in some cases, even more.
If you’ve been getting frustrated with non-surgical options for skin rejuvenation and the lack of results that they’ve been giving you, contact our office in Bethesda and ask about our facelift procedure, it could be the direct and efficient approach that you’ve been looking for.
What Can I Expect from a Facelift?
Just because facelifts are a surgical process doesn’t mean that they have to be an intimidating one. You might be conscious, but the anesthetics you’ll be under will make the procedure comfortable. The size of the incision depends on the area of the face you wish to target, but typically, an incision will made starting at the temple and will end somewhere behind the ear or on the scalp. Once the incision has been made, Dr. Porter will gently lift the skin flap so that she can start repairing the underlying tissue and muscle. Once she does that, she’ll re-drape the leftover, sagging skin to help tighten it up.
Dr. Porter will use techniques to help reduce the appearance of the surgical marks left on the face, and within a few weeks time, many of the marks should become hard to notice. After a few weeks of recovery, you’ll be left with results that can be visible for up to a decade.
What’s The Recovery Like For Facelifts?
This is a surgical treatment, so you’re going to need to give your body time to rest in order to get the greatest results from the facelift. Expect to take one to two weeks off from work in order to recover. Most of the recovery symptoms should subside within a week’s time and you’ll likely be in working condition after just two.
For the first few days of your recovery, you should make sure that your head is kept elevated, especially while you sleep. You may experience some mild discomfort to the treated area for the first couple of days following the facelift, but Dr. Porter will give you some tips for aftercare to help increase your comfort during recovery.
Am I A Candidate For Facelifts?
Facelifts are intensive procedures, so you should make sure that you’re in good health if you want to undergo the procedure. If you’re feeling well and able, the next step in verifying your candidacy is scheduling a consultation. During this consultation, a practitioner will sit down with you to discuss your medical history and cosmetic goals. If the practitioner finds something that makes facelifts less than ideal for you as patient, alternatives will be discussed.
